Carlisle frowned when he heard that it was Eleanor who had been visiting a nearby prison before Van escaped.
Eleanor had no contact with Van. She had attended the party both attended, but Carlisle was always by Eleanor’s side, and she couldn’t even properly greet Van each time.
It was unbelievable that Eleanor let Van escape.
‘Did she have that feeling because of my engagement to Charlotte?’
There was the only place he could think of. Carlisle did think that Eleanor would be offended by it because she loved him.
It wasn’t as much as he desired, but love had blinded her to the point where his lies duped her.
However, such an action was deemed foolish. Even if the two of them ran away, Eleanor would eventually return to his arms.
‘The only guides in the world are Charlotte and Eleanor. I can’t give up either of them!’
He needed to get out of bed while Charlotte slept. Charlotte claimed that their matching rate was higher than Van’s, but from his experience, this did not appear to be the case.
It was uncomfortable guidance.
‘I was ecstatic just by holding Eleanor’s hand…..’
It had been a long time coming but having sex with an A-class guide did not meet even half his expectations. She was only two grades level higher, but he couldn’t stop feeling filthy.
Charlotte, with whom he had sex, seemed to be on the same page. He seemed rather pleased as he rose from his bed in response to his subordinate’s urgent voice.
Carlisle remembered Eleanor right away. He was also perplexed as to why he was withholding their sex with Eleanor without advancing it.
All he and Eleanor had to do was talk face-to-face and hold hands. Carlisle had to suppress all his feelings for Eleanor just to keep him from touching it.
He was afraid of becoming attached to Eleanor. He reasoned that if he fell in love with her, she would ruin his cause.
But what happened to her, I wondered.
He killed the emperor and his wife without a guide named Charlotte, then defeated and captured the eastern duke, Van.
If she wanted to use Van to rule over the Empire’s eastern nobles, they were now in Carlisle’s hands.
‘Eleanor, what the hell are you thinking? If you are wise, you will understand that I will never abandon you……’
He was going to take the throne anyhow, so the emperor had no choice but to embrace many women. The Empress would be Charlotte, the Marquis’ daughter, but he intended to make Eleanor his concubine.
Even if she was disguised as a duke’s adopted daughter, she was actually a commoner.
He thought that would be enough to win her over.
But he couldn’t say it before her because the Duke of Armoure had already placed too many expectations on her.
He intended to reclaim Eleanor, who the Duke of Armoure had abandoned after marrying Charlotte and settling the political situation.
Eleanor was also grateful to be his concubine by then.
Her pompousness.
Carlisle clenched his teeth at the thought of her having devotedly freed Van. A betrayal of this kind was unanticipated by him.
“Princess Armoure said she went to the imperial palace!”
The knight claimed that reinforcements guards had already been sent to the main Imperial Palace. The issue needed to be resolved immediately, so reporting was postponed.
Carlisle didn’t hold it against them. None of his knights had the audacity to harm Eleanor. Regardless of what others say, she was the guide who saved Carlisle for six years.
“I’ll take the lead! I will go to the main imperial palace!”

Unfortunately, the underground passage was not shaped like a labyrinth. It was easy to find the way, but they figured the pursuers would be easy to find them.
Eleanor expected to find the charnel house easily. The white metal barred door had a chain around the entrance, but Van easily broke it with a sword.
With Van at the front, Eleanor went into the charnel house.
Even though it was referred to as an ossuary, it was actually a cemetery and a sacred space for just one existence. The stones were all made of white marble, and the interior was engulfed in blue magic flames.
Eleanor and Van proceeded to descend the underground because the path was straight. Finally, they reached the spacious stone chamber after descending a number of stairs and moving through a hallway.
In the innermost part of the underground was a stone statue depicting gods and humans, and a massive sarcophagus covered in blood-red flowers lay in the centre of the space.
Even though the location was obviously old, there was not a single sign of dust, giving the impression that the charnel house was somehow magical.
Van approached the sarcophagus and read the inscription on the lid.
“This door can be opened only by the pure companion of God.”
Van immediately turned to stare at Eleanor when he heard the phrase “God’s companion.” The guides were called the companions of the demigods, the Imperial Family.
“They say that only a pure companion of God can open the door……What does it mean, princess?”
At his cautious question, Eleanor grinned.
“The meaning of the phrases inscribed on the tomb might not be the same. It is not bodily chastity that matters, but whether you have committed sin.”
It was clear that Luria, the empress, tried to break this seal. She had been married to the Emperor for a long time.
The words Eleanor spoke made him fall silent. Since Eleanor and Carlisle had been engaged for more than six years, he assumed they already had sexual relations.
Few members of the imperial family could stand having a guide by their side.
Nevertheless, Eleanor continued speaking after that.
“It makes no difference if it has an actual meaning. Because I had nothing to do with anyone.”
“… Weren’t you the guide for the Grand Duke?”
“He had another guide in mind who had a higher rank than I had. Who do you think?”
She seemed to have maintained a pure and clean body for that reason. Eleanor was relieved not to be involved sexually with him, but this was how things were going to play out.
Van has silenced by Eleanor’s sarcasm. Eleanor ignored him and pushed the sarcophagus lid open with force. Van tried to help because the lid was too big to be open using just her own strength, so Van tried to help, but the lid was unexpectedly pushed out.
For a moment, she thought there might be a dried mummy or skeleton inside the sarcophagus. The legend is a sin of lies, and she thought there would be a human body there.
But it wasn’t.
There was something inside the sarcophagus that had five different colours. As she reached out to touch it, Van grasped Eleanor’s hand.
“It might be dangerous…..”
Eleanor did not object, though she pondered his course of action in this situation. Van wrapped his mana around his hand and reached for the light.
However, the light did not allow Van to enter, as the light bounced off of him.
“Eleanor!!!”
It was then that a loud voice was heard. Carlisle had obviously called at the end of the passageway, even though she could not see him yet. It was his voice.
Van drew his sword and stepped forward.
“He is coming alone. He must heard that you and I are coming together.”
Eleanor’s face showed no reaction to what he said. Carlisle was not supposed to get carried away with anything else but this.
He could have just judged that he could have the upper hand against Van.
Carlisle’s body should have been clean in comparison to Van, who was only 5% guided.
“… The knights will come after.”
The imperial knights would never send the emperor alone. They will shortly follow Carlisle to this place.
Van looked at Eleanor, indicating he didn’t want to be taken over.
“Do you think that thing on the sarcophagus is a god?”
“It doesn’t matter what I think.”
Luria’s thoughts, as described in the original storyline, were significant. She even knew how to get into this place and free the gods.
Van seemed to smash the ground, then disappear from view.
Bang!
The air in the stone chamber seemed to quake as the explosion rang out. Eleanor crouched down and fixed her focus for a time on the two people she could see in her line of sight.
Carlisle was glaring at Eleanor with a face stained with rage. Van had bumped his sword once, yet his lips were gushing blood from the corners as if his internal organs had been hit.
“Eleanor… !”
Eleanor pressed the tip against her chest as she drew the dagger. Van’s eyes were filled with astonishment as he looked at her.
She wasn’t looking at them. She sat at the edge of the sarcophagus. If Eleanor stabbed herself with a dagger, her body would fall straight into the light.
“This world, destroyed.”
The dagger went right through her heart. Eleanor’s collapsed body fell into the light of the sarcophagus.
Unlike when Van’s hand was pushed out, the light slowly sucked her in. The beautiful white light mixed with five colours turned scarlet in an instant.
Two men reached for the sarcophagus as they ran to save her tumbling body. In an instant, the whole world was dyed in an ominous crimson light.
