The Emperor pondered, thinking about the possibility that the rumours circulating throughout the empire might hold some truth. He pondered the possibility that Van could develop a detrimental tendency to entwine himself with others.
It was a common occurrence in the imperial court for people who appeared as docile as lambs in the face of the emperor to undergo a dramatic turnaround once outside the palace.
However, Luria felt the rumour was unjust. Even though it was obvious that it was a conspiracy, the emperor tried to see Van through the lens of the rumour.
‘That rumour must have been from Carlisle!’
It was right around that time that rumours started spreading among the servants about making Van the crown prince. Van’s bravery was added to the rumours, and he became known as the ‘Mad Dog of the East.’
Hearing that nickname, Dael was upset and made it impossible to make Van the crown prince.
Of course, he didn’t see any other member of the royal family other than Van as his successor, but he thought it was impossible until the rumours subsided.
Luria hated Carlisle even more because of this. Unlike Van, who had a boyish disposition, Carlisle was considered to have a mean disposition, plotting behind the scenes.
“How can you trust such a mean person without even listening to a child who looked at him like a child!”
“You’ve gone too far, Empress. The family of the Grand Duke of Javés has not been loyal to the imperial family for generations.”
“That family kidnapped the guide and put her to death, and they dared to lay a hand on me. I remember.”
Luria’s sharp retort left Dael momentarily speechless. However, he was a member of the imperial family, and he did not think that she, the guide, would understand the pain the imperial family suffered because of the lack of guidance.
“That’s the story of the Grand Duke Javés’s father. He’s been dead for decades, so it’s not right to keep bringing it up.”
“Your Majesty, is it alright to see him as your son? I hate him! The Grand Duke Javés resembles his father so much!”
The Emperor may take it for granted that he had to protect his guide, but Carlisle, having lost his father, would not think so.
Luria thought that Carlisle hated her and the emperor, and was plotting against Van. The fact that the Emperor, Dael, chose to ignore such a straightforward relationship between cause and effect was extremely frustrating.
“Since he is his child, he would resemble his father. It would be unfair to accuse Carlisle of committing a crime he was not responsible for.”
Dael was able to show off the Emperor’s power and generosity by forgiving Carlisle’s father. Although the ending of the previous Grand Duke Javés was miserable, many nobles still praised the emperor after hearing the anecdote.
However, Luria believed that Carlisle could stab them in the back at any time.
“How can you say such a thing when the Grand Duke Javés blocks always gets in Van’s way!”
Dael simply chuckled at Luria, who spoke as if Van were her child. Luria did not seem to have noticed yet that he had no choice but to make a stricter judgement for her to come out like this.
When Dael shut his mouth in displeasure, Luria shot Dael a glare angrily and turned away quickly.
However, since he was also a member of the royal family who needed a guide, Dael was in trouble. Luria, just as he had expected, would not stand still if he ordered a subjugation in the north or exiled him.
‘I’ll have to hope that the Van has a good reason.’
Dael thought about this as he watched the empress walk away. His guide was beautiful, even when she was upset.

Originally, it was Eleanor who wanted to guide Van in the carriage. She wanted to do it even if it meant having sex with Van in the process.
However, her ideas disappeared as soon as she climbed into the carriage and sat down in the comfortable chair inside. She had finished the food before boarding the carriage, which she had done after taking a warm bath that had the effect of calming and relaxing her body.
Eleanor fell asleep in Van’s arms as they were travelling in the carriage, and she hardly moved at all during the whole of their journey. Because he kept provoking her throughout the night, it was only natural.
Van peered into Eleanor’s eyes with a smile on his face as he held her in his arms while she slept. She was so kind and loving to Eleanor that he was surprised that such a heart could be found.
‘How can I be so happy to see a person’s face…… It’s incredible.’
Even the eyelashes on her deeply closed eyelids were attractive to look at, and the gentle sound of her breathing was endearing to listen to. Van stretched his back in the chair, allowing Eleanor to sit comfortably by his side.
Eleanor seemed comfortable as she fell asleep on his thigh. Van looked at her face and smiled at her. It was a peaceful moment when he wondered if she could come into his own life.
Eleanor and Van’s carriage, which was escorted by knights from the Eastern Duchy, went through the gates of the duchy while they were there. The magic circle that had the power to teleport to the entrance to the city close to the capital was set up on the border between the central and eastern areas.
Before leaving the duchy, he informed the officials who were in charge of the magic circle by having a courier deliver the news to them. The duke’s party was expected to arrive in the evening, therefore, preparations were made for their arrival at that time.
He was preparing to dispatch a messenger to a wizard who was not directly related to the imperial palace.
Van worried about what the emperor might say about his late arrival. He doesn’t care about himself, but he is worried about Eleanor.
‘First things first……We have to deal with the status issue.’
Commoners were not allowed to marry high-ranking nobles or members of the imperial family. Therefore, Van wished to make a request for Eleanor to be taken in as the foster daughter of a nobleman who was related to Empress Luria on her mother’s side.
If she were to become Empress, she would not hesitate for a moment to adopt Eleanor into either her own family or the family of her mother. He thought that she could not say no to the offer because it would be to the benefit of the empress’s family if she accepted it.
The empress would be happy to give Eleanor to someone in her mother’s family to raise as their own. Since she would also help the empress’s family, it was decided that there was no way to turn it down.
Carlisle, who was waiting in the capital, was a bother. He would have gone up to the capital and informed the emperor, therefore, he had to be there.
‘I’m not sure if he’s pretending to be injured in the capital.’
If he had even seriously injured him, he wouldn’t be so upset. He was angry that he had the nerve to be with His Majesty the Emperor and Empress.
Everything that transpired in the future would be a waste, but Van had no intention of ever leaving Carlisle in one piece.
It was reckless to leave him alone in those situations.
‘But I’m not sure how to persuade His Majesty. Even if I explain the regression, I doubt he will believe me.
Her Majesty the Empress would agree that Carlisle is dangerous. But it was obvious that His Majesty the Emperor would need convincing proof.
Van couldn’t explain the regression or even mention the existence of a god hidden in a secret underground passage.
They would not like it if they knew that Eleanor was trying to destroy this empire by losing everyone around them.
Her Majesty may understand, but he will not.
“Argh! What’s wrong with this?”
Van turned his head back to the window of the carriage as soon as he heard the horrified knights shouting. He drew the drapes down, lest the sunlight blind Eleanor.
Eleanor quickly raised her head, as if she had been startled awake by the voice she had just heard.
“Duke?”
“It looks like something happened outside.”
Van said as he opened the drapes and took a look outside. Apis threw off the bird and yelled as they drew nearer to the carriage.
“Duke, don’t open the door!”
The bird that was going to fly through the glass was successfully sliced in half by the sword that he was wielding. As soon as it was cut off, it morphed into a sticky, black liquid, and then it fell to the ground as it had never been a real bird at all.
‘My gosh!’
Eleanor got to her feet and peered out the window with wide eyes. Van also saw a flock of birds swooping down on the knights standing in front of the window.
The knights who teamed up with the wizard and fought were at least better, but those who did not were careful to keep the birds from pecking their faces, which was closely cutting them.
The bird, however, was not a real bird, so even if it were sliced, it would just have instantaneously transformed into liquid, fallen to the ground, and then reformed and continued to attack.
Peck!
A bird pounced on another pane of glass on the other side. The window was protected by magic, so it didn’t shatter right away; nonetheless, when it broke, a dark liquid leaked through the opening it made in the wall.
Van pulled Eleanor into his arms.
“Eleanor, I will use my power.”
Eleanor knew that Van had strong power, but did not read the part in the original story where he used it.
When he was finally freed from the dungeon, his condition was in a critical state. There was a chance that his entire body might instantly explode, or that he would pass out or lose control when he unleashed his power
On the other side, the current Van had been guided by Eleanor all night. He used some of his ability to heal Eleanor’s back, but since it was right after receiving the guidance, only a little filth accumulated.
“It might be dangerous…… Please guide me.”
Eleanor responded to Van’s words by nodding her head in agreement. Eleanor, holding her waist with both arms, recalled that guiding with kissing rather than skin was more effective.
She snatched Van’s chin and kissed him on the lips. In between kisses from Eleanor, Van noticed the black liquid oozing into the carriage.
It turned into a blackbird and tried to attack Van. Then whammo! The bird appeared to be split in two by the rushing air before being destroyed by numerous gusts.
Kwak! Kwak!
A grotesque noise was heard, but Eleanor did not turn her head. She closed her eyes and focused on kissing Van and guiding him.
Van stroked the back of Eleanor’s head and looked out the window. With his power, shifting his surroundings was an easy chore. The only thing that concerns him is the accumulation of grime on his body.
‘I’ve never used my powers this powerfully before, yet…….’
It was unreasonable to hide out in a nearby town or city. The guards there won’t be able to handle that bird. It does nothing but add to the damage.
The big city leading the wizardry was far from here. The wizard who moved that horse would also have attacked here with that intention.
The wizards who belonged to the Duke’s family were the ones who noticed the air outside moving and stirring. Small whirlwinds arose in the air on the carriage’s left and right sides, sweeping in relatively small birds. When the wizards witnessed the breadth of powers that could not have been envisaged by using wide-area magic, their eyes widened in amazement.
“What the heck!”
“The Duke did it!”
Even the duke’s knights and wizards knew that Van had extraordinary power. But he only ever used his healing powers.
This was the first time he had exploited his extraordinary wind power.
