Ian just looked at me and didn’t say anything.
My cheek was soon caressed by a warm embrace that came quickly after. A gentle tug on the crown of my head drew me in the direction of the pull. When Ian was close by, I had the sensation that his eyelashes could touch me if I blinked really fast.
Then, with a slight inclination of his head, Ian murmured something.
“Like this?”
My mouth began to twitch, and I muttered something softly.
I couldn’t answer. If I move a little, I think my lips will touch his.
‘It’s something I have to touch, right?’
I couldn’t fool people with a fake kiss, like at a wedding, forever.
The cunning emperor could not be fooled by the fake kiss in which the lips did not even come close to touching each other.
Even knowing that, after a few seconds, I tightly closed my eyes.
“Oh, today.”
I said this while launching myself off of Ian’s lap.
“Let’s stop here.”
While I was pressing my hand against Ian’s chest, he turned his head to look at me while he was lying on the couch.
“Is it over already? It’s shorter than I expected.”
The way Ian was speaking seemed to be provoking me.
I gave him a fleeting look. Armed with various love novels and romance dramas, I was so nervous, but I felt disgusted at why that person looked so normal.
“I’m being considerate.”
“You mean me?”
“Yes. If you move that quickly all at once, Sir Ian might just be faking it, right?”
“Ha.”
Ian let out a chuckle.
“Do you think the same?”
“I am not ignoring you in any way. Sir Ian has never been in a relationship with someone of the opposite gender.”
Ian’s mouth twisted at the sight in my eyes, asking if I was wrong. Sitting crookedly on the sofa and making that expression, he looked pretty bad.
I raised my shoulders in a casual shrug for no reason.
“Why are you looking at me like that? I’m not wrong, right?”
“Well, yes, but.”
Ian, who woke up from the sofa, glided past me as if he could touch me. He said this before passing.
“That doesn’t mean I don’t know anything.”
“…….”
I was speechless, and my body went completely still.
‘What do you mean?’
I had to struggle to calm my pounding heart.
‘Calm down—He is Ian anyway.’
Even though his face and body are not profane, the original author acknowledges that he is a man who lives a chaste life.
It was possible for me to get a 100% advantage in this field.
‘Soyeon, give me power.’
There was no way that Ian could compete with me when it came to indulging in such knowledge, if he knew anything at all.
‘The important thing is the moment. Let’s not lose to Ian even in a place like this!’
In the next practise session, I will lead more unconventionally.
I was dead set on winning, so I clenched my fists really tight.
***
The regular Mass will be held today.
To use Ian’s expression, she is ‘a delinquent saintess who treats cows like chickens when it comes to physical training,’ but I was still fulfilling my very basic duty as a saintess. It was part of my efforts to attend mass once a week.
‘It’s all about effort, but everyone closes their eyes and thinks about other things while praying.’
Still, from the outside, I seemed to be quite pious. When the mass was over, everyone would look over at me with a smile on their face.
“You are working hard today too, everyone.”
On the way back after Mass. As I was walking through the corridors of the cathedral, I became aware of the sound of people shouting and turned to look in that direction.
Annette admired the person and said something while looking down.
Lowering my head, a clear view of the gymnasium on the first floor below greeted my eyes.
Perhaps it was regular training time, dozens of knights were concentrating on swordsmanship training.
Upon catching sight of the brown hair, a smile graced my lips. It was Elliot.
Even to me, who was unfamiliar with swordsmanship, Elliot looked somewhat different from the knights around him. The movements were restrained, yet there was an unmistakable air of strange dignity.
‘Is this how the main character carries themselves with dignity?’
After I had been looking at Elliott for a while, Annette asked me insinuatingly.
“Would you like to take a look around, Saintess Irene?”
“Yes. Then let’s take a break for a while.”
Come to think of it, I had something else to say to Elliot.
Annette and I went down to the first floor and watched the knights train for a while. Not only us, but also the passing attendants and noble ladies who stopped by the cathedral, were watching the knights with happy faces.
“That’s it for today!”
How many minutes did they watch?
The senior knights clapped, signalling the end of training.
The Holy Knights, having completed their rigorous training, let out a deep sigh and gently massaged their sore muscles.
As I strolled amidst them, the knights, catching sight of me, were taken aback and promptly shifted their positions.
Thanks to that, I was able to find Elliot before long.
“Hello.”
I reached in front of Elliot and smiled broadly.
Elliot stopped drinking and looked back at me with a bewildered face.
“…Saintess?”
“I want to say something for a moment. Can you spare me some time?”
Elliott blinked with a bewildered look.

I escorted Elliot into the drawing room and offered him refreshments.
“Eat as much as you want.”
“…Yes. Thank you.”
Elliot looked down at the plate of colourful cookies with his eyes betraying a hint of unease, and with a hesitant hand, he reached for the lemon-coloured treat.
‘Hmm. I’m sure he likes it.’
The lemon colour was the hair colour of the heroine, Selina. In the future, Elliot would grow up to be a young man who would kiss Selina’s hair and say, ‘It smells good here.’
I smiled with satisfaction as I felt like I had already seen Selina’s lover.
“I was trying to find you anyway.”
Without even touching the cookie, Elliot opened his mouth. It was a tense expression.
“Me? Why?”
“I wasn’t able to properly thank you for helping me at Trancell… I thought you must have been in trouble because I pointed out that I wanted the saintess as my godmother.”
“Ah. That was surprising.”
I nodded.
“It wasn’t that I didn’t like it or that it was difficult. I’m just surprised. Why did you choose me?”
Embarrassed, Elliot bit his lip.
“There was a group of people who deceived me by saying that if I couldn’t find a godmother, I wouldn’t be baptized, and of course, I couldn’t become a Holy Knight. They said I had to name someone who would be my godmother right away.”
Oh my.
I kicked my tongue softly. It seemed to be aimed at Elliott’s inability to make a connection at the cathedral because of the bullies.
‘Bastards.’
“At that time, the only name of a female adult who would be a godmother came to mind was Saintess…. I said it without realizing it. I’m sorry.”
“Is that true?”
Elliott’s eyes widened in surprise as he took in my unexpectedly pleasant response.
“There is nothing to be sorry about. Were you rather happy? I really wanted to be your godmother. Never before had someone chosen me to be the godmother.”
“Is that true?”
Elliott looked at me with surprised eyes at my pleasant answer.
“But why…”
However, it is Ian who stands as Elliot’s guardian. Elliott looked perplexed, as if he remembered it.
Watching the scene, I asked insinuously.
“Is Commander Ian being too harsh?”
“What? Oh no. The commander is giving me undeserved teachings.”
Having said that, Elliot added as if talking to himself.
“… … I haven’t seen him since the sparring that day.”
“I beg your pardon?”
He promised to be the godfather, but he had been neglecting him?
It wasn’t that I didn’t understand. I already knew that Ian was so busy that even having ten bodies was not enough.
‘Still! If you decide to raise a child, you must take responsibility! Attention is essential to growing youth.’
You took him away from me and left him alone. A great talent like Elliot.
Maybe I should say something when we meet later tonight. As I promised, Elliot hesitated.
“I am fine. The sparring alone on that day taught me a lot. It is the first time I have seen such a state exist.”
“What’s the point of just showing it to us! You should also tell him how to touch him.”
Elliott looked down, perplexed, when I vented my anger.
Realizing that I had unintentionally put Elliot in trouble, I -eheum- cleared my throat.
“Anyway. The story of me wanting to be your godmother is sincere. Even though I was cut in the line.”
As I shrugged my shoulders, Elliot widened his eyes.
“If you’re cutting in line…”
“Ian insisted on being your godfather.”
“What?”
Elliot had blank eyes.
“Commander, is he really?”
“Yes. Don’t you believe it?”
“But why did the commander…”
He was an orphan and insignificant, so why did he insist on being his godfather?
Guessing Elliot’s backstory, I smiled.
“Hmm. Maybe he saw your talent?”
“My talent… You mean?”
“Yes. I was also present at the sparring with Ian that day. I could sense that Ian was interested in dealing with you.”
It was true.
Even in the original story, Ian acknowledged his talent with Elliot’s sword. But even if you hadn’t read that passage, you could guess that Ian wasn’t bored on that day.
‘With that kind of personality, I wouldn’t have been there for another second if it hadn’t been trivial or boring.’
They must have walked away as soon as they exchanged a sum of things like three best wins.
As I was smiling to myself and considering what I had just read, Elliot abruptly turned his attention to me.
“Ah. That…on the sparring day.”
“…….”
The awkward voice jogged my memory of the embarrassing things I’d done earlier in the day.
Damn it. Yeah. It couldn’t have been erased from my memory.
Could there be a rumour about what happened that day in the cathedral? A perverted wife who suddenly attacked her husband during sparring?
Fearing an answer, so I couldn’t bring myself to ask, and I turned away.
After that, there was a sound of someone knocking.
“Saintess Irene! Commander Ian left the office. I think he will come here soon!”
“What?”
I opened my eyes wide at the unexpected news.
At this hour? You’re leaving work even though the sun hasn’t set yet?
“I’m sure he’ll be here in five minutes!”
“I see. Thank you.”
Tomorrow, the sun will rise in the west.
While thinking about that, Elliot jumped up from the sofa. As I sprang into action, the sofa’s legs dragged noisily across the ground, eliciting a creaking sound from the room.
“Hmm? What’s wrong?”
“Half, two metres in radius.”
Elliott mumbled something back to me while his face was pale.
